Speaking to reporters outside a home in the Long Island town of Massapequa, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said on Friday that a male suspect had been arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday in Midtown Manhattan. He did not identify the suspect but said a grand jury was expected to hand down an indictment on Friday afternoon. Harrison said more information would be provided at a press conference at 4 p.m. (2000 GMT) on Friday. Police have said that one person might be responsible for all the murders. CNN —A New York architect is in custody for the Gilgo Beach murders, an unsolved case tied to at least 10 sets of human remains discovered since 2010 in suburban Long Island, according to two law enforcement sources. Law enforcement arrive at a Long Island house Friday, July 14, 2023. Eduardo Munoz Alvarez/APAuthorities later said they believe Gilbert’s death may have been accidental and not related to the Gilgo Beach slayings. Additional remains were uncovered in neighboring Gilgo Beach and in Nassau County, about 40 miles east of New York City. Mack’s partial remains were first discovered near Gilgo Beach in 2000, with additional dismembered remains found in 2011, according to the Suffolk County police.
